Phloeomana speirea
Index Fungorum 15: 2. 2013
Common Name: none
Synonym: Mycena speirea (Fr.) Gillet
Solitary, scattered to caespitose on bare or moss covered bark of hardwoods and conifers; also on cones and woody debris; not uncommon in moist areas in the fall in north coastal areas and Kalamath Ranges; occasionally in spring in the northern Sierra Nevada.
Unknown.
Mycena speirea can be distinguished by its small size, greyish to brownish-grey convex cap that has a paler margin, decurrent gills and growth mainly on bark. Small bark-dwelling Mycena species usually have conical caps. Microscopically, the inamyloid spores of Mycena speirea easily separates it from Mycena species.
