Hygrophorus olivaceoalbus
Epicrisis Systematis Mycologici: 324. 1838.
Common Name: none
For description see Hesler & Smith.
Solitary to scattered to gregarious in moss or duff under Sitka spruce; common in winter in the far north coast.
Edible.
Hygrophorus olivaceoalbus can be distinguished by its viscid brown cap, white gills, viscid white stipe ornamented with grey, greyish brown, to black fibrils, and growth with Sitka spruce.
Our Hygrophorus olivaceoalbus may not be the true Hygrophorus olivaceoalbus of Europe and would then need a new name. More research/data is needed to clarify this situation.
