Gregarious on various dead vascular plant species. In Californa it has been found on Quercus.
Not edible.
Favolaschia calocera is an invasive species, first recorded from Madagascar. It is probably native to Madagascar, southern China, and Thailand. After spreading to New Zealand, Europe, and Hawaii (among other places), it has recently been found in California.
