Agaricus stevensii
Agaricus of North America: 368. 2016.
Photo: Type speciman
Common Name: none
For description see Kerrigan.
Gregarious in montane coniferous forests, May-June.
Unknown, but probably edible.
Agaricus stevensii can be distinguished by its size, stocky stature; pallid, yellowish to grayish-brown cap that stains yellow-orange and slightly bulbous stipe. A. stevensii could be confused with Agaricus moronii, but that taxa is larger, usually whiter, and has a flaring rather than band-like annulus.
