Solitary to gregarious on moss, fall to spring. Common, but easily overlooked due to its small size.
Unknown.
Arrhenia retiruga is distinguished by its small size, pallid grayish coloration, lack of gills, and habitat on moss. Rimbachia bryophila, another small moss lover, is whitish in color and has gills typically with cross veins. Tiny Calyptella capula is whitish, funnel shaped with a smooth hymenium, growing on various herbaceous plants.
